Phoenix MRC were pleased to support the Eastcombe Scouts and Guides. All revenue is going to improve thier clubrooms. We helped raise over £1100 to go forward with the modifications they need to bring the building up to EEC regulations.

We had four Phoenix layouts at the show, and Mr Alan Postlethwaite author of several railway books brought Brockley Acres, a large layout which is designed for people to have a go at running a layout.

The phoenix layouts include...

Corrinford Road, Phoenix's 'OO' club layout, originally built by Ken Ross a local modeller and revamped this year to run with Digital Control. Corrrinford Road runs with GWR stock supplied and run by Dennis Bladen.

Zeitz, Owned by John Freer. An 'N' gauge continental layout. Using standard DC cab control, depicting the German reichsbahn through epoc 1&2 before the network became DB.

Island of Sodor, Owned by Sarah Padam. A 'OO' gauge layout currently runing on DC control, but soon to be converted to digital control. As you may be aware the original Island of Sodor, as depicted by the Rev. Awdry is a fictional island situation between the Isle of Mann and mainland Britain. As such it was considered to be part of the Great Western Region and was based  in the period just prior and just after centralisation. This layout is set in the same era and region.

Bardney Flights, Owned by Giles Walburn. A LNER 'OO' finescale layout controlled by Digital control, incorporating laptop control. Bardney Flights is under construction giving and insight to people who are considering building a layout. Bardney Flights will also have a working flight of canal locks, although this feature is not finished yet.
