Can
you help?
Phoenix Model Railway
Club needs new premises!
Ideally;
- Greater or equal to 2,700 square
feet
- Situated in or around central
Gloucester
- Low rent
- Facilities not necessarily exceeding
running cold water and toilets
- Some parking
As many of you may be aware the former
RAF Quedgeley site, where the P.M.R.C Club
rooms are currently situated, is rapidly
being transformed in to the Kingsmead Housing
Estate. The present building is about to
be flattened by bulldozers! Therefore the
Club has been given notice by its Landlords,
Quedgeley Urban Village Limited, to vacate
the premises no later than 24th March 2008!
As a not for profit organisation the
Club finds it hard to pay commercial rent
(currently £761 per quarter, including VAT)
and business rates (although the Council
have historically allowed the Club an 80%
discount on the latter), and are trying
to raise funds to cover any increased rent
and the legal costs of the impending move.
Current proposed fund raising activities
include;
- Exhibition on 10 & 11 November
at Thomas Keeble School, Eastcombe,
Stroud, in association with Eastcombe
Scouts and Gloucester M.R.C.
P.M.R.C, established in 1999, has grown
from 7 to over 30 members and currently
has five layouts on the exhibition circuit.
P.M.R.C is fairly unique in that it offers
its members the space, equipment and skills
to build their own layouts. The Club is
open to members of all modelling abilities
and regularly holds demonstrations of different
modelling skills, thereby providing a service
to the community of Gloucestershire.
